Pep & Rash – Fatality (Quintino Edit)

By BIGLIFE

This is for all you kids in the chat box with absolutely zero taste in dance music. You know, the one’s who b*tch and moan about there not being enough progressive house slash brostep posted. I’ve pretty much had it with progressive house at this point but Quintino’s edit of Pep & Rash’s “Fatality” is a huge tune. There’s just no getting around it. The video is horrendous, but it doesn’t matter. Spinnin’ Records continues to pump out hit after hit. Incredible really. Pick this up on Beatport below.

Krewella – Say Goodbye

By BIGLIFE

Screen Shot 2014 11 23 at 7.25.37 PM Krewella Say Goodbye

I like Krewella. I find them personally and musically appealing. Every single time they’re in Dallas they take a moment to speak with us, which they don’t have to do. They’ve long graduated from this site and there’s not much we can do for them at this point. That said, I hate writing bad reviews. I try to ignore what I don’t like and promote what I do. In this case I have to shoot our readers straight: Krewella’s “Say Goodbye” single is extremely underwhelming. It has very few redeeming qualities and is hard to listen to at times. It sounds like a rejected Evanescence demo with drum and bass produced around it. Frankly, I’m shocked this was even approved for release. I’m not giving up on them yet. I think they’re under a great deal of pressure (you can read their legal response here) and put this song out to quell some of the backlash. I don’t blame them. I would have too. I just wish they would have come out of the gates swinging. I haven’t given up on them just yet. Let’s wait and see what Krewella have in store for us next.

Willow Smith feat. SZA – 9 (LMC Remix)

By BP

I’ve been following LMC, or Liam Mcalister, on Soundcloud for a long time now and I’m becoming very impressed with his progress. The young New Zealand native has just gotten smoother and smoother. This remix of Willow Smith feat. SZA’s “9” is outstanding. Grab some quality headphones for this one everyone. The bass line will blow you away. Simple, yet elegant, LMC’s remix is mellow and sophisticated. Trap beats dance over the bass to compliment the beautiful vocals. If this track is your style you can snag it for free right on Soundcloud.

Wara from the NBHD – Slangin [Video]

By TwirlyHatMatt

In the day-and-age where OT Da Genesis and Stitches are transformed in to stars for their cocaine selling and usage, it’s refreshing to see at least a little sanity in music (and humans).

“You think I like crack, you think I like shootin’ n*ggas?”

A rhetorical question posed by Wara from the NBHD in his new video “Slangin” makes you wonder why we as a society have suddenly transformed selling drugs in to such a novelty. The Brooklyn-born emcee quickly snaps listeners back to reality, reminding us that this lifestyle is not one that many choose, but are rather forced in to out of necessity.

The video, shot by , takes you through a day in the life of a few kids trapped in this harsh reality.

If you have not listened to the rest of Wara’s most recent project, Kidnapped, check it out below.

NicX – The Sun (ft. 6lack)

By TwirlyHatMatt

artworks 000097348282 oqkxoo t500x500 NicX The Sun (ft. 6lack)

After catching me eye with the dark and aggressive “Merk”, NicX popped back on to my radar with a far more upbeat track alongside frequent collaborator, 6lack. The rapping tag team bring a vintage feel –heavily thanks to producer, Identity Withheld– while not recycling content from rap’s golden years.

Above all it’s the versatility that has piqued my interest. NicX sounds equally enticing on “The Sun” as he did on “Merk”, so it is anyones guess as to what he’ll bring to the table next time around.

Jessie J ft. 2 Chainz – Burnin’ Up (Don Diablo Remix)

By BIGLIFE

jessie j don diablo remix 500x500 Jessie J ft. 2 Chainz Burnin Up (Don Diablo Remix)

I despise major label contracted remixes. There’s something about knowing that an of touch person at a label grasping for relevancy reaches out to notable (actually cool) producers to remix their mindless top 40 radio smash. Just doesn’t sit well. That said, I’m a forgiving blogger and can read between the lines. Earlier this month Don Diablo dropped his “Burnin’ Up” remix via Casablanca Records. It was featured this morning on Oliver Heldens latest “Heldeep Radio” episode, and rightfully so.

This “Burnin’ Up” remix is indeed fire. Hats off to Don Diablo for bringing the heat.

DiRTY RADiO – My Religion (Music by: Flight Facilities)

By VMan

Facebook |SoundCloud | Twitter

Flight Facilities have been everywhere these past months, from countless quality remixes by the likes of Darius and Lido, and snatching a #1 iTunes spot for their album release, but this record right here, takes Flight Facilities to a place they haven’t been taken yet, a vocal remix by the good folks at DiRTY RadiO of “Waking Bliss,” retitled “Religion” and it’s cool as f*ck! If you guys are familiar with Mattafix, this record reminds me of their track “Living Darfur,” in it’s political engagement, and overall sound. It’s safe to say, I’m a fan of Dirty Radio, this is a must listen and a must download!
